1. Introduction

FairSay operates JustPost as a principled participation platform. We believe public participation is strongest when it is based on honesty, respect, evidence and responsibility.

We exist to help people and organisations participate in public discussion and advocacy through meaningful, respectful and responsible communication.

The platform enables organisations to create campaigns where people can share messages, contact decision-makers and participate in public engagement activities.

FairSay operates JustPost as a curated platform. This means we do not accept every possible use of the platform. Organisations and campaigns must meet our ethical standards and comply with our Terms of Service.

This ethical policy explains the principles we use when assessing organisations, campaigns and content.

2. Our approach

FairSay supports lawful public participation, advocacy and campaigning that contributes to constructive public debate.

We believe that effective advocacy should be:

  • truthful;
  • responsible;
  • respectful;
  • based on evidence or clearly identified opinion;
  • consistent with human dignity and the rights of others.

We recognise that people and organisations may hold different views on important issues. JustPost is not intended to promote one particular political party, ideology or campaign position.

However, FairSay operates JustPost as a principled participation platform. This means we apply clear ethical standards to the organisations and campaigns that use the platform. We believe that public participation is strongest when it is based on honesty, respect and responsibility.

We reserve the right to refuse or remove uses that conflict with these principles, this policy or our responsibility to maintain a trusted platform.

3. Principles for acceptable use

Organisations and campaigns using JustPost should:

3.1 Promote truthful and responsible communication

Campaigns should not:

  • deliberately misrepresent facts;
  • knowingly spread false information;
  • use deception or manipulation;
  • present unsupported claims as established facts.

Campaigns may include opinion, interpretation and debate, provided these are communicated honestly and responsibly.

3.2 Respect human rights and dignity

Campaigns should respect widely accepted international principles relating to:

  • human rights;
  • equality;
  • dignity;
  • freedom from discrimination;
  • fair treatment of individuals and communities.

Campaigns must not promote hatred, harassment, intimidation or discrimination against individuals or groups.

3.3 Support constructive public participation

JustPost is intended for campaigns that encourage people to participate responsibly in public life.

Campaigns should not seek to:

  • intimidate or threaten individuals;
  • deliberately provoke hostility;
  • undermine democratic participation through deception;
  • silence lawful disagreement through harassment or abuse.

3.4 Be transparent and authentic

Organisations using JustPost should represent themselves honestly.

Campaigns must not:

  • impersonate another organisation or individual;
  • hide the true purpose, sponsor or organiser of a campaign;
  • use misleading tactics to create false public support;
  • engage in artificial or coordinated activity intended to misrepresent public opinion.

This includes practices commonly described as astroturfing, deceptive amplification or similar forms of manipulation.

4. Campaign and organisation review

FairSay may review organisations and campaigns before or during use of the JustPost platform.

This review may consider:

  • the purpose of the organisation;
  • the nature of the campaign;
  • campaign materials;
  • potential legal, ethical or reputational risks;
  • consistency with this policy.

Approval of an organisation or campaign does not mean that FairSay agrees with every statement, opinion or position expressed.

Approval means that FairSay considers the organisation and proposed use to be consistent with the purpose and standards of JustPost at that time.

5. Content standards

Customers are responsible for the content of campaigns they create.

Campaign content must not include:

  • unlawful material;
  • hate speech or discriminatory content;
  • harassment or threats;
  • knowingly false information;
  • malicious content;
  • content that infringes the rights of others.

Where campaigns allow participants to submit their own messages or materials, customers remain responsible for ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place.

6. FairSay's role

FairSay provides the JustPost platform and supports responsible campaigning.

FairSay may:

  • request further information about organisations or campaigns;
  • ask for changes to campaign materials;
  • pause campaigns while concerns are investigated;
  • remove content;
  • suspend or terminate access to the platform.

These actions are intended to protect participants, customers, FairSay and the wider JustPost community.

7. Breaches of this policy

Where a campaign or organisation appears not to meet this policy, FairSay will normally seek to understand the situation and may request corrective action.

Depending on the circumstances, FairSay may:

  • require changes to campaign content;
  • temporarily suspend a campaign;
  • restrict access to parts of the platform;
  • terminate access to JustPost.

Serious breaches, including deliberate deception, malicious activity or illegal activity, may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Any outstanding financial obligations, costs already incurred or services already provided remain payable in accordance with the Terms of Service.

8. Our commitment

FairSay is committed to operating JustPost responsibly and transparently.

We regularly review this policy to ensure that it continues to support a trusted environment for ethical public participation and advocacy.
